Painting - GW Mordor Orcs

  This week's entry is twenty five GW Mordor orcs. They are a combination of plastic and metal and include two of the ooooold metal orc models from when the line was first started, now re-purposed as captains. 

First up, painted as Isengard orcs.

Painting - 12 Riders of Rohan

  My entry for this week continues my work on Rohan. This entry is 12 riders for last week's heroes to command.

They look pretty impressive all ranked up together.

Painting - Rhys - Oathmark elves and fantasy Bones

  This week I painted more elves. And some more fantasy Bones. These are Oathmark elves and I like them a lot better than the GW ones.

These are Oathmark from Northstar. I bought them and put them together all by myself.

Painting - Rhys - Challenge XIV entry

 This week is a mix of Sci-fi (Star Wars Legion) and Sci-Fi. First off I'm finally done with the elves. This is the wizard for them. She was really hard to paint. 

There is so much detail on this model. I tried really hard to make her look right but she was very hard. Dad showed me a sculpture where it looks like she is wearing something over her face and this model has the same thing. (edit: the Veiled Virgin by Giovanni Strazza)

She has parts of the model going in all different directions.

Painting - Challenge XIV - Jyn Erso, Grime and B1s

  This week's entry is Grime the Goblin Wizard, Jyn Erso and more B1's for Star Wars Legion. Jyn will be transporting me back to the entry room as Grimes is a new acquisition. 

I actually finished Jyn a few weeks ago but was saving her to help me move around the library.

Jyn is a great model in game. She's surprisingly good in melee. 

Painting - Rhys for Challenge XIV

  I completed some more models after my last entry was ready to go. First off is two more of these elves. I'm really close to being done with them. 

Two more leaders. One for spears and one for bows.

Painting - Rhys - Space Marines and Fantasy

  I'm getting close to being done with my Space Marines (which I like painting) and my elves, which I really don't like painting. I also have some other models for this week.

 This is Rhys' second entry to the Challenge. He painted four different things this time. Some fantasy and some sci/fi.

First up is the commander for his High Elves.

Very fancy model. Rhys wanted him to stand out with gold.

This post is six of the new zombies from Fireforge games. I got them as part of the kickstarter for their not-Stark fantasy army fighting undead.

Painting - Thingol the "Barbarian" for Rangers of Shadow Deep

This post is Rob Stark's dire wolf from A Song of Ice and Fire by Cool Mini or Not. I got two of the starter set for less than half price each, so I have an extra wolf.

Thingol is a giant wolf with the stats of a barbarian.

Gaming - Rangers of Shadow Deep - The first scenario

Last weekend the boys and I played our second game of Rangers of Shadow Deep, though we just played the first scenario a second time. We each had a ranger and two companions. There were a couple of times things got tense, but nine of us seemed to make short work of the zombies, rat swarms and giant bugs that had infested the village.

Here's two giant beetles for Rangers of Shadow Deep. Again, like the rat swarm and giant ticks, these are stand ins for the giant rats, which I have just found.

This entry is two giant ticks from Reaper Miniatures Bones series. I painted these up for Rangers of Shadow Deep when I couldn't find my giant rat miniatures (GW Skaven), though I've now found both the giant rats and some ROUSs (Rodent's of Unusual Size) that I will get painted and on the table.

Painting - Rat Swarms for Rangers of Shadow Deep

This is a quick post to show of two bases of rat swarms that I did up for Rangers of Shadow Deep. The models are from one of the D&D board games, either the Drizzit one or Ashardalon, I don't know which. I bought the games for Rhys when he was younger and wanted to start gaming, but he has moved beyond them now and the models have come out for his gaming.

Painting Progress

This group of models is the last of 2019. They are the Abyssal Dwarf Slave Orcs from Mantic that I painted for my son's birthday. I still need to do the slave master and his ugly dog to finish the unit off, but his was eighteen orcs completed. The keen eyed among you will notice that there are not 18 orcs on the base. I saved off four to make the next unit that much faster.

Welcome to 2020

It's been awhile. I've spent the last two years finishing the basement. I've done a lot of the work myself and we paid as we went, so it took a long time. The drawback to this is that all of my miniatures have been in storage for the last two years. I've done a lot of gaming but it has all been board or RPGs. Not bad, but not the stuff for this blog.

8th Challenge, Entry 3 - Dark Elf Dark Riders from GW

This entry is six Dark Elf dark riders from GW. These are the older metals, from just before the current plastics. I think I have another twelve of these, perhaps more.

8th Challenge, Entry 2 - Flight bonus round. Air Cavalry

This unit is six flying carpet riders. These are 28mm models from Black Tree Design. I have many historical armies, but I've always loved Fantasy as well. This year I'm adding fantasy elements to several of my historical armies. Ironically in this case, this is the first unit done for my arabs.
