Here are three more models from Rhys' Abyssal Dwarf force for Kings of War. He got the starter army for his birthday, in December. I was able to get the unit of slave orcs painted before his birthday, but the task master and his "dog" had to stay hidden since he would have known what they were.

Painting Progress - Bits and bobs and tokens
This latest batch of painted stuff is bits and pieces for a variety of purposes from a variety of manufacturers. They will mostly be used as treasure items in games like Rangers of Shadow Deep (RoSD) or for scatter and looks in D&D.

Painting Progress
This group of models is the last of 2019. They are the Abyssal Dwarf Slave Orcs from Mantic that I painted for my son's birthday. I still need to do the slave master and his ugly dog to finish the unit off, but his was eighteen orcs completed. The keen eyed among you will notice that there are not 18 orcs on the base. I saved off four to make the next unit that much faster.

Welcome to 2020
It's been awhile. I've spent the last two years finishing the basement. I've done a lot of the work myself and we paid as we went, so it took a long time. The drawback to this is that all of my miniatures have been in storage for the last two years. I've done a lot of gaming but it has all been board or RPGs. Not bad, but not the stuff for this blog.

End of year frenzy
I've been out of action for the last two months. The blog's been quiet because I have not done anything hobby-wise. My shoulder is starting to feel better, at the same time that I have a week off of work. I'm trying to get a whole bunch assembled so that if the weather gets nice enough, I can get it primed. I have a fair bit primed already, but most of it is not for any current project; rather they are artifacts of past attempts to paint armies.
Several of my kickstarters have come home to roost in the last two weeks. First through the door was Fanticide. This was the rules, cards and a Liberi war band, as well as a sample pack and the unicorn.

Mantic Zombies
Several months back I bought twenty random Mantic sprues for 20 quid. A couple of months later I supported the Mantic Kickstarter campaign, and walked away with an undead starter army, which arrived last week. Four of the sprues, out of my 20, were for undead. The first one I assembled was the six zombies, for no more reason than, hello, they're zombies!

Deals and Specials
There are a lot of sales and deals going on in the brave new age of wargaming that we are living in. The 15mm Sci/Fi manufacturers often have nice sales. "Tuition is due for my daughter, 20% off on everything." It's nice doing business with a small company.
Then you have the big players. Not GW big, but second tier big. Folks like Mantic. They recently had one of their wacky sales; for twenty five pounds you got twenty random sprues and a messenger bag. That is a heck of a deal in my book.
This is what twenty random sprues look like. Awesome. |
