I haven't been up to much painting lately, but I have gotten another model done for my U.S. Marines Company for In Her Majesty's Name. This model is "Mr. Smith", the indomitable secret agent who has been sent along with the Marines to guide them.
|
Mr. Smith, preparing to unleash lightening at the foes of America. |
The model is a
Tobias from Ironclad Miniatures. Service was prompt and cheerful. The casting was clean with very nice detail. He was a lot of fun to paint. I'd recommend a gander through their catalog to see if there is anything that suits you.

From the front. |
I'm pretty pleased with the painting. At first I was put off with the dark green in the folds of his jacket. The more he sat on my desk, the more I liked it though. The only part I'm really disappointed with is the lightning in the globe on his pistol.
|
The globe is not very lightening-y. |
It looks more like a miniature globe attached to the bottom of his pistol than a ball of barely harnessed lightening.
Below are Mr. Smith's stats. His rapier is in his cane. The targeting monocle is, oddly, in his left eye. The arc pistol is rather obvious.

A very cool adaption of a nice mini - I was looking at this fig only last week!
ReplyDeleteLove the green and yellow colours too, most lively!
Thanks Paul. The colors grew organically as I painted him. He's a nice contrast with his Marine counterparts.
DeleteGreat painting! I especially like the basing.
DeleteThanks Moiterei_. I enjoy doing the basing. This is my standard desert base.
DeleteNow that's impressive, second ironclad miniature I've seen today - I think a shopping trip coming on!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. I appreciate it. I think their pictures don't do it justice. The detail is understated but very nice.
DeleteHe would actually do very well as a Secret Service Agent from the upcoming Heroes, Villains and Fiends.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly they can take the USMC as troops choices.
I've left his antecedents a little bit unclear, but that's very interesting to hear. I'm looking forward to the new book even more now.
DeleteBeautifully painted and a great model. I think he's wonderful and definitely suitably sinister.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I appreciate the compliment.
