Upgrading X-Wing

As my regular readers will know I'm a big fan of X-Wing.  The boys and I play every couple of weeks or so and I get in games with adults from time to time too.  One of the things I like about it is the pre-painted ships.  I'm not so fond of the playing on a table top that has been my lot, up to now.

A much better playing surface.

I have a good friend who works in a printing shop.  I sent her an image and she had it printed out on banner material.  It's durable, looks good and, icing on the cake, was free.

This looks much nicer than the wood, under the ships.
I had it printed out 3' by 4'.  The playing area is still 3x3 but the extra foot is six inches of banner on each end.  This gives you a place for your cards and stuff, though our dining room table is not four feet wide so we had to run it the long way.  All in all, I'm very pleased with this and happy with what it adds to the game.

  1. Looks awesome. I just helped teach my friend play a few games today. That looks like one very large battle. I have yet to play with most of those ships in that pic. Something about Interceptors and TIE fighters that stops me from branching out haha.

    1. This was about 150 points. I just let my youngest choose the ships he wanted, added a couple of upgrades, then grabbed the same number of points of rebels. It was my first time with the B-Wing and the Hawk so I was mostly trying to figure those out.
