Treasures from the past V

Dragons of Glory.  Wow.  I have no idea if this was a great game.  I just know I loved it.  I'd read the books.  This was simply amazing.  Fighting the entire war out on the planet of Kern.  It was fantastic.

I was introduced to this game by a childhood friend who I was visiting in South Dakota.  We started playing the day before I left to come home.  We played all night and were still not done when it was time for me to leave for the bus.

Two map sheets.  Half assedly taped together.  I'm still excited at the possibilities of an empty hex map.
As soon as I got home I tracked it down and bought it.  From then on my games were all solo, but that was how I gamed.  I loved this game.  I loved that it allowed me to play the books, but I also loved the strategy of it.  both sides had strengths and weaknesses.  When I was evil, it seemed like I was surrounded on all sides and fighting desperately.  When I was good the Evil side had interior lines (though I didn't know that was a thing, I knew that it was an advantage).
Even after twenty years these names are very evocative for me.
I don't remember much of how this game actually played.  I'm pretty sure some groups started out neutral and had to be brought into the war.  I think the dragons came along later in the game too.  I have absolutely no recollection of how the game play actually worked.  I may actually have to give this one a go again, if I can find all of the pieces.

  1. Going back to those moments when we were young can be almost magical and often times soothing in our difficult adult world.

    1. You are so right Anne. I'm also amazed at the fact that this stuff is from 25-30 years ago. I remember it much more clearly than a lot that has happened since. It doesn't seem possible that it was that long ago.
