Owyn has been playing D&D with his brother. His first character was a thief. He got frustrated by the fact that he was squishy and didn't fight very well. For his second character he decided that he wanted a fighter.

Lips pursed in concentration. |
I backed the first Bones kickstarter. This means I have a ton of D&D style characters. I pulled a couple of dozen out and let each boy pick one out. Owyn picked a big, strong fighter in plate armor. Pretty much the opposite of his last character.

His holding technique leaves a little bit to be desired. |
He got the armor and cape done in the first go around. His brush control was better than I expected. The big reveal will come when he's done, but I'm very excited that he wants to paint.
Great to see the young ones giving the hobby a try. I wish you good luck in developing both a painting and gaming partner.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. There's hope. Both boys have decided that they want models as a reward for being good at school, rather than toys.
DeleteFantastic Dad and Lad time. My son does paint but much prefers to play!
ReplyDeleteOwyn hasn't decided he wants to play minis yet, but he loves X-Wing and D&D. Rhys is all about playing minis. I'm just happy they want to spend time with me.
DeleteI very carefully didn't push on this. He was adamant that he wanted to paint his mini himself.
