Dropzone Commander

I've been looking at this game for awhile now.  I mentioned it in this post, in fact, as one of the games I'm hoping to check out in the next four months.  As launch gets closer I'm getting more and more excited about both the models and the rules.

The cover looks like it really captures the flavor of the game.

For those who don't know, this is a 10mm mass combat, combined arms game.  The rules are reported to reward balanced forces and to play best with armor, infantry, air and AAA.  There's a pretty complete review here, which served to really make me more excited.  Then there was a follow up article here, which gives a bit more detail than the first article.  Then there is another article here from one of the other guys who got to go and try out the game.  So, lots of input from people who have actually played it and didn't get any product, just what they both claim was a great game.

Reportedly the models are a very high quality resin; like throw them against the wall tough.  Their quality control is also reported to be top notch, with models that aren't perfect not getting sent out.  That's the kind of thing I want to hear when I'm paying my hard earned cash for someone's products.

There is a Facebook page as well as the DzC web site.  Pre-orders are available now.  The rules are due in a month.  It's a full color, hardbound rulebook and it will be about $25, very reasonable.  The models are a little pricey for 10mm, except that the quality almost certainly makes them good value for money.  I'll have to see them in person to decide for myself.  There are three sizes of army deals, with the large size being about right for most games and the mega deal giving you pretty much all of the options.

I'll have to do some prioritizing but I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up the rule book in the September time frame.

  1. Hmmm.... *looks at all the Sci-fi books on his shelves and then glances to see how much space is available on the worktable.*

    1. There's always more room. Plus, they're 10mm, so they're wee.
