Completed 15mm Sci/Fi

I have completed my first batch of 15mm figures.  These were a nice change of pace from 28mm.  Much faster to get done but still with nice detail.

Bike, Grav Scout and two of the infantry.

I have, deliberately, gone with a darker color scheme on these models.  We'll see how it looks on the table, but most of my armies are pretty light.  This is a departure for me.

The infantry are based on pennies, stuck on with Liquitex modeling paste.  I was going to go with washers but just didn't like the cost and the size of the holes on them.  The infantry are basecoated with Army Painter Rat Fur then painted the armor and pouches with Vallejo Brown Violet.  Visors and weapons are black with gunmetal metal on the magazines (these take a beating and are always scraped up).  I finished it all up with a Badab black wash.  I'll still need to finish all of the bases, but I'm not sure how I'm going to do that yet.  I'm used to much bigger models.

The second row is in focus.

Ready for the table.

These are all CMG Arc Fleet Recon troopers.  Very nice little models.  I'll be filling them out to a full platoon with supports.  These models have gotten me excited about 15mm, so that's all to the good.

  1. I've actually found a source online that works out as just under 1p/washer (possibly just over with postage) but it does mean buying packs of about 350-500.

As for the holes, I just cover those with sticky dot labels before adding the figure(s) and basing texture.

I like the paint scheme you've gone with and glad you're enjoying 15mm

  2. Tamsin, I did find some stuff online but was impatient. I also have the advantage that our penny is smaller than your 1p, so is a better fit. Thanks for the praise on the color scheme. I'm excited to get playing. I just need to bulk this force out, and get a second one up, and I'll be off and running.

  3. Aaron, what game are you going to use these for? I just ordered the rules for Tommorow's War, but I was thinking of using 28mm.

  4. I'm thinking of Gruntz for 15mm. I'm hoping I like Tomorrow's War as well and I'll play that one in 28mm. I've also downloaded FUBAR, which is one page, free rules.
